Diese Forschungswerkstatt bietet eine Einführung in die Wissenschaftspraxis und den Wissenstransfer zu gesellschaftlich relevanten Themen rund um Migration und Stadtgesellschaft als auch eine Gelegenheit zur Berufsfelderkundung in der kommunalen Integrationsarbeit. Dabei entwickeln und realisieren die Studierenden eine eigene empirische Arbeit – von der Fragestellung bis zum Forschungsbericht. Ziel ist es, wissenschaftliches Vorgehen praktisch nachzuvollziehen, anzuwenden und Ergebnisse theoriegeleitet zu interpretieren. Die dreisemestrige Forschungswerkstatt wird in dieser Lehrveranstaltung als Kooperationsprojekt angelegt: Gemeinsam mit Praxispartner:innen des Kommunalen Integrationszentrums Bielefeld wählen die Studierenden Fragestellungen, die an das Bielefelder Integrationsmonitoring anknüpfen und entwickeln davon ausgehend ein eigenes Forschungsprojekt. Das Integrationsmonitoring besteht aus einer Umfragestudie in der Stadtbevölkerung, Fokusgruppeninterviews mit Bürger:innen und Expert:innen sowie behördlichen Statistiken. So werden auf Bedarfslagen ausgerichtete Handlungsempfehlungen abgeleitet und sinnvolle Maßnahmen im Feld Integration, Diskriminierung und Zusammenleben für die Stadt Bielefeld entwickelt, einschließlich wahrgenommener Chancen und Konfliktlinien.

In der Forschungswerkstatt I steht die theoretische und empirische Rahmung des Projekts im Vordergrund der gegenstandsbezogenen Einführung. Diese wird begleitet durch die Erarbeitung von Fragestellungen und methodischen Überlegungen.
