Durch den vermehrten Einsatz von Biologika in der Therapie von Erkrankungen ist in der modernen Zellbiologie der Fokus auf humane Modellsysteme gerückt. Insbesondere Stammzellen bergen ein großes Potential durch ihre Fähigkeit, sich selbst zu erneuern und in verschiedene Zelltypen zu differenzieren. Speziell multipotente adulte Stammzellen erfüllen diverse regenerative Aufgaben im Organismus. In diesem Mastermodul sollen die theoretischen Grundlagen der humanen Zellbiologie anhand von aktuellen Publikationen erarbeitet werden. Im praktischen Teil werden verschiedene Zelltypen wie adulte Stammzellen oder etablierte Zelllinien kultiviert. Durch den Einsatz molekularbiologischer Methoden werden auch Proliferation bzw. Differenzierung dieser Zellen betrachtet. Weiterhin werden die Möglichkeiten zellbiologischer Kultursysteme zur experimentellen Erforschung von Therapieansätzen erkundet.
