The topic for this semester will be "Lifestyles in the digital age".

Lifestyles in the Digital Age examines the impact of digital technologies on contemporary society, with particular emphasis on communication, identity, relationships, education, and work. The course will adopt a discussion-based approach to develop spoken fluency, academic vocabulary, critical thinking, and intercultural communicative competence. Through structured discussions, debates, presentations, and the analysis of authentic English-language texts and multimedia resources, students will critically evaluate current issues and express informed opinions in English. The course aims to strengthen students' confidence in spoken academic English while fostering an awareness of the social, cultural, and ethical implications of living in an increasingly digital world.

Topics include:

Social media, online identity, and digital communities
Online dating, relationships, and interpersonal communication
Artificial intelligence in education, the workplace, and everyday life
Digital wellbeing, mental health, and screen-time management
Online privacy, surveillance, and digital citizenship
Streaming, gaming, and contemporary digital culture
Remote work, online collaboration, and the future of employment
Consumer behaviour, digital marketing, and the platform economy
