In this seminar series basic and recent animals’ topics in e.g. applied animal behaviour, animal health and animal welfare will be presented and discussed. Animals, domesticated and non-domesticated, will be approached from different perspectives. We will address the usage of methods and skills of (applied) animal behavior to wild, feral, farm or companion animals, ranging from e.g. poultry, pigs, dogs or their respective ancestral species. Besides having the opportunity to perform proper species-specific behaviour, also health of animals must be sufficient in order to achieve good animals’ welfare. Animal health covers a broad range of topics from for example vaccinations strategies (e.g. rabies eradication), feather pecking to tail biting. The seminar will start at each occasion with a presentation from a speaker followed by discussions on the topic from all participants. The seminar will conducted hybrid, with selected dates taking place in person at Bielefeld University, while others will take place online in Zoom.
