Das Seminar führt in die britische Wirtschaftsgeschichte von den 1920er Jahren bis in die neoliberale Ära der 1990er Jahre ein. Sie beginnt mit der fragilen Währungs- und Handelsordnung der 1920er Jahre, behandelt die Folgen der Weltwirtschaftskrise und die Kriegswirtschaft während des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Es folgen die Verstaatlichungspolitik und die außenwirtschaftliche Regulierung nach dem Krieg, das trotz Nachkriegsboom relativ schwache Wachstum der Wirtschaft bis 1973, die Konfliktsituation zwischen Arbeitgebern und Gewerkschaften, die Stagflationskrise der 1970er Jahre und die neoliberale Neuordnung der britischen Wirtschaft in den 1980er Jahren (Ära Thatcher).
