230340 Road Movies: Perspectives from the Americas (BS) (WiSe 2026/2027)

This seminar explores the road movie genre and reflects on how history and culture, the human and non-human connect to movement, stasis, identity, otherness, and progress as road movies narrate mobility and quest. In looking at this genre, we will interpret the themes and aesthetics of the road movie genre, taking into account the different socio-political contexts along the decades. Screenings and analysis include among others the road movies “Bonnie and Clyde”, “Easy Rider”, “Thelma and Louise.” The Studienleistung involves regular attendance, active participation, and a group (2-3 students) presentation of 30 minutes toward the end of the semester.
