314008 Statistisches Praktikum (Pr) (WiSe 2026/2027)

Contents, comment

English version:
The purpose of the statistical internship is to encourage students to venture outside the university and discover in practice what the work of statisticians looks like and how they are integrated into companies. To this end, students find an internship position with a minimum duration of 2 weeks full-time (approx. 80 work hours). The content of the internship must be related to statistical modeling. In this context, statistics is interpreted broadly; all types of machine learning are also included. However, merely collecting and preparing data is not acceptable. To clarify whether the content is 'statistical enough,' please contact Dietmar Bauer or Nina Westerheide.

The internship does not have to be a traditional internship in the strict sense. In many cases, we also accept work as a research assistant (excluding tutor positions) or as a working student. After completing the internship, please submit
a) a confirmation from the company stating the duration and
b) a report (max. 5 pages) in which you reflect on what you worked on, how the statisticians are integrated into the company, and what the working environment is like.

If you are unable to find an internship after a long search, please contact Dietmar Bauer to discuss alternatives.
