Die Übung beschäftigt sich mit dem Verhältnis von qualitativer und quantitativer Lebenslaufforschung (d.h. von Biographie- und Lebensverlaufforschung). Diese Übung ist verknüpft mit dem Seminar "Methoden empirischer Sozialforschung II"; es gibt eine gemeinsame 1. einführende Sitzung der Übung und des Seminars. Teilnehmer, die an der Übung teilnehmen möchten, müssen an dem Seminar "Methoden empirischer Sozialforschung II" teilnehmen, in dem die Methoden der Lebenslaufforschung einführend vermittelt werden. Die Übung und das Seminar sind so eng miteinander verknüpft, dass sie nicht separat besucht werden können.
