Wir möchten verstehen, wie man vielfältige mathematische Probleme durch algebraische Methoden lösen kann. Mögliche Vortragsthemen kommen aus den folgenden Gebieten und lauten:

Algebraische Methoden in der Geometrie der Kegelschnitte
- Kegelschnitte und Quadriken
- Fokale, optische und projektive Eigenschaften der Kegelschnitte
- Die Sätze von Brianchon und Pascal
- Poncelets Porismus
- Mittelpunktskonstruktionen und Eigenwerte

Algebraische Methoden zum Lösen von Zerlegungsproblemen
- Das Paradoxon von Banach und Tarski
- Das Lösung des dritten hilbertschen Problem durch die dehnsche Invariante

Algebraische Methoden in der Arithmetik
- Der kombinatorische Nullstellensatz
- Das quadratische Reziprozitätsgesetz
- Elliptische Funktionen

Requirements for participation, required level

Das Seminar wendet sich an Studentinnen und Studenten mit Grundkenntnissen aus Analysis und linearer Algebra und dem Willen, sich in ein neues Thema einzuarbeiten. Teile der Literatur sind in englischer Sprache geschrieben. Am 11. Februar findet um 14 Uhr in V5-227 eine Vorbesprechung statt.
