Das Seminar setzt sich anhand des Werkes der Historikerin Natalie Zemon Davis (1928-2023) mit Entwicklungen in der Geschichtswissenschaft und dem Einfluss von Nachbardisziplinen seit den 1960er Jahren auseinander. Im Zentrum steht die Lektüre von Ausschnitten aus Zemon Davis‘ Werk und weiteren theoretischen Texten. Das Themenspektrum reicht von der Einbeziehung von Unterschichten als Akteur:innen in der Geschichte, über die Mikro- und Alltagsgeschichte und die Geschlechtergeschichte bis zur Geschichte von Minderheiten und nicht-europäischen Akteur:innen. Wir schauen auf verschiedene historiographische Entwicklungen, die von Natalie Zemon Davis mit geprägt wurden. Dabei diskutieren wir auch Fragen wie: Was erzählen uns mikrohistorische Studien über große Zusammenhänge? Wer darf wessen Geschichte schreiben? Wie viel Informationen bieten Quellen und wie viel darf ein:e Historiker:in daraus ableiten?
