This seminar will provide insights into mechanisms of gender constructions as found in contemporary products of popular culture in literature, film, TV, and music. We will discuss major theoretical approaches to the understanding of sex, sexuality, and gender, as well as their relationship to bodies. Also, we will discuss how discourses and ideologies concerning gender come into being and are negotiated through popular culture and its various products.
