Die Einführungsveranstaltung, die in Seminarform abgehalten wird und sich an Bachelor-Studierende der Fächer Französisch und Spanisch richtet, vermittelt systematisches Grundwissen zu Konzepten und Methoden der aktuellen Kultur- und Medienwissenschaft. Zentrale Begriffe, Modelle und Theorien beider Disziplinen werden im Rahmen der Lektüre einschlägiger Texte sowie im exemplarischen Umgang mit Medienpraktiken und -techniken verschiedener Epochen erarbeitet. Neben der Kulturgeschichte des Buches, der audiovisuellen Medien (Photographie, Film) und des Internet werden dabei im Ansatz auch die Besonderheiten der französisch- und spanischsprachigen Medienkulturen besprochen.
Die Auswahl der behandelten Texte wird zu Semesterbeginn bereitgestellt.
