230207 Ireland: England's / Britain's First Colony? (S) (SoSe 2016)

This course has been cancelled!

Contents, comment

This course charts the history of Anglo-Irish relations, quite fraught pretty much from their beginnings, to cast light on the status of Ireland in relation to England/Britain, which in many ways was of a colonial nature. The focus will be on key events and turning points in the history of the relations between England/Britain and Ireland which illuminate that particular relationship.
This course has been organized to run in tandem with the course by Dr Schulte entitled ”English in Ireland”, and students are encouraged to register for both courses in conjunction.
