Mittelalterliche Geschichte wird laut Lehrplan in der Jahrgangsstufe 7 unterrichtet. Häufig kommt es in dieser Altersgruppe vor, dass das ursprünglich hohe Interesse am Fach Geschichte stark abnimmt. Das Seminar verfolgt vor diesem Hintergrund zwei Ansätze. Zum einen soll geprüft werden, welche Aspekte der mittelalterlichen Geschichte für die genannte Altersgruppe relevant sein können. Zum anderen gilt es der Frage nachzugehen, welche Themen aus der mittelalterlichen Geschichte für die Ausbildung eines Geschichtsbewußtseins unverzichtbar sind.
Das Seminar richtet sich in erster Linie an Studierende, die in der Sekundarstufe I oder II unterrichten wollen. Bestandteil des Seminars ist ein Unterrichtspraktikum, das nach den Sommerferien 2006 am Städtischen Gymnasium Gütersloh durchgeführt werden wird.
