Der Erste Weltkrieg, die "Urkatastrophe des 20. Jahrhunderts", stellt eine tief greifende Zäsur für alle europäischen Staaten dar. Die Überwindung der politischen, sozialen, ökonomischen und auch kulturellen Folgen des Krieges erforderte enorme Anstrengungen, die nicht überall erfolgreich waren. Die Vorlesung will einen Überblick geben über die Etablierung einer europäischen Nachkriegsordnung und vergleichend erörtern, wie sich die einzelnen europäischen Staaten den Herausforderungen stellten
