n this seminar, we are going to explore some of the central texts of the Harlem Renaissance, a US-American literary period of crucial importance in artisic, social, and cultural terms. Our goal is to practice the nuts and bolts of literary analysis and interpretation against the backdrop of a context-oriented approach. You will engage in close reading and practice the usage of literary terminology, methodology and theory by analyzing and interpreting different literary text types (poetry, drama, narrative texts), all produced by Black artists during the Harlem Renaissance.

Requirements for participation, required level

I recommend that you attend Basis 2.1 "Introduction to Literary Analysis and Interpretation" first before attending this class.
