300460 Critical Political Economy: Getting to know approaches and analytical lenses (S) (SoSe 2026)

Contents, comment

The critique of political economy analyses how state and market forces, public and private actors interact in global capitalism, always with an eye to overcome the injustices and inequalities they entail. In a world of imperialism, genocide and climate crisis, the critique of political economy is vital. Often in conversation with the long tradition of Marxist analysis, a wealth of approaches and lenses have been developed by critical social scientists and historians over the last fifty years. We will get to know some of them and study what they allow us to see and how they approach the study of political economy. I am looking forward to honing our political economy skills together.
