Erzählt jemand seine eigene Lebensgeschichte, so steht diese Narration nicht nur für sich selbst, sondern verweist immer auch auf etwas Typisches, Verallgemeinerbares. Denn jeder Mensch lebt zwar sein eigenes Leben als Individuum, ist aber mit der Gesellschaft verbunden – nicht zuletzt durch konkret erlebte soziale Ereignisse, prägende Sprach-, Denk- und Verhaltensgewohnheiten sowie durch Gruppenzugehörigkeiten, Alltagspraktiken und institutionelle Arrangements.

Wie sich individuelle Lebensgeschichten als Datengrundlage für die qualitative Analyse sozialer Wirklichkeit nutzen lassen, ist Gegenstand dieser Lehrveranstaltung. Im Mittelpunkt stehen praktische Übungen mit interpretativen Verfahren.
