In this student-led study group, we will explore the impact of TikTok and other social media platforms on teenagers’ mental health, with a particular focus on body image and beauty ideals shaped by beauty filters.
Participants will engage with scholarly research on social media and mental health, develop a critical framework for analysing TikTok content, and discuss how these issues can be addressed in the secondary English classroom.
Throughout the block seminar, we will combine partner work, group activities and whole-class discussions in order to exchange ideas and develop practical teaching approaches.
