Sprache kommt immer im Zusammenhang mit anderen Informationen vor: Gestik und Mimik begleiten unsere Äußerungen; Texte werden oft durch Bilder ergänzt; Gespräche finden immer in einer bestimmten Situation statt... Um Sprache zu verarbeiten, müssen Menschen Informationen aus vielerlei Quellen integrieren. Das soll am Beispiel des Umgangs mit audiovisuellen Materialien verdeutlicht werden. In kognitiv-linguistischer Hinsicht ist die Frage, wie das Zusammenwirken von auditiver und visueller Information funktioniert, von besonderem Interesse: Der Beitrag, den Texte, Bilder und Filme zum Verstehen komplexer Sachverhalte leisten, ist ein produktiver interdisziplinärer Forschungsgegenstand.
Im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung stehen theoretische Überlegungen und empirische Befunde zu kognitiven Prozessen menschlicher Informationsverarbeitung. Behandelt werden u.a.
- semiotische Grundlagen und aktuelle Wahrnehmungstheorien,
- Theorien der Repräsentation sprachlicher und bildlicher Information,
- einschlägige experimentelle Untersuchungen,
- Fragen der optimalen Gestaltung multimodaler Information.
