In the first part, we will give a modern account on the theory of quadratic forms.
Special attention will be given to quadratic forms over the rationals or more
generally global fields using the Witt group and the Hasse principle.
In the second part we will discuss quadratic forms over the integers. In this case,
the local-global principle does not hold in general. This leads to the theory of
(spinor) genera.
The lecture is based on the standard textbooks by Kneser, Cassels and O'Meara.
