Nicht nur in pädagogischen Diskursen wird der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur (KJL) bisweilen eine nahezu magische Kraft beigemessen: Sie soll unterhalten und bilden, pädagogisch wertvoll sein, ihren Beitrag zur Gutwerdung der Heranwachsenden leisten, dabei unbedingt Normen und Werte vermitteln. Scheitert sie an diesen Vorstellungen, erscheint sie wiederum als Verführerin und Verderberin. Sie ist somit eine äußerst umstrittene, als besonders wirkmächtig wahrgenommene Erziehungsinstanz.
Im Seminar betrachten wir historische und aktuelle Kontroversen um KJL und erkunden, welche Vorstellungen über Literatur, Ideologie und kindliche bzw. jugendliche Leser:innen sich darin ausdrücken.
