In diesem Seminar geht es um nichts.

Oder besser gesagt: Es geht um das Nichts.

Oder noch besser gesagt: Es geht um alle möglichen (und unmöglichen) Nichtse.

Aber was sind Nichtse überhaupt? Etwa negative Eigenschaften, Löcher, die Null, bloße Möglichkeiten, fiktionale Gegenstände und dergleichen? Gibt es solche negativen (Un-)Dinge womöglich? Wenn ja, dann sind es doch aber Dinge, und somit ja wohl gerade keine Undinge! Und wenn nein, dann sind diese Undinge wirklich rein gar nichts – was komisch wäre, da wir ein ganzes Semester lang über "sie" sprechen werden. (Talk about Philosophie als Laberfach!)

Wer jetzt schon verwirrt ist, ist in diesem Seminar genau richtig!

Wir wollen versuchen, dem Nichts auf die Spur zu kommen – und uns fragen, ob das wirklich metaphysisch geht oder doch nur sprachlich bzw. gedanklich.

Das tun wir, indem wir das Buch Absence and Nothing: The Philosophy of What There Is Not von Stephen Mumford gemeinsam lesen und diskutieren.
