In der globalisierten Moderne spielt Interkulturalität nicht nur auf weltweiter Ebene eine zunehmend wichtige Rolle, etwa zwischen kollektiven, transnationalen Akteuren. Infolge der wachsenden multiethnischen Differenzierung innerhalb von Gesellschaften hat interkulturelle Kommunikation auch unterhalb der Ebene des Supranationalen als Handlungs- und Orientierungshorizont an Bedeutung gewonnen. Dies gilt allgemein auf lebensweltlicher Ebene wie auch für spezifische Sozialformen gesellschaftlichen Zusammenlebens oder auch innerhalb verschiedenster gesellschaftlicher Felder (Bildung, Sport, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft usw.).
Ausgehend von ausgewählten kommunikationstheoretischen Grundlagen wird der Fokus der Veranstaltung auf der Analyse interkultureller Kommunikation(sprozesse) und der hiermit verbundenen Herausforderung des Fremdverstehens liegen. Wir fragen, wie sich Prozesse sozialen Fremdverstehens und der Umgang mit kultureller Differenz theoretisch konzipieren und empirisch erfassen lassen.
