300433 Alterssicherung im internationalen Vergleich (S) (WiSe 2026/2027)

In diesem Seminar werden verschiedene Formen der Alterssicherung und des Schutzes im Alter weltweit aus vergleichender und historischer Perspektive behandelt. Das Seminar untersucht die Entstehung und Entwicklung von Rentensystemen, Altenheimen und anderen Institutionen, die dem Schutz und der Unterstützung älterer Menschen dienen. Darüber hinaus werden relevante sozialpolitische Ansätze wie Prävention, Rehabilitation, Langzeitpflege und gemeindenahe Versorgung als weitere Möglichkeiten im Umgang mit den Bedürfnissen und Risiken des Alters diskutiert.
Das Seminar beschäftigt sich außerdem mit dem „Alter“ selbst als sozialer Kategorie und geht der Frage nach, wie Alter in verschiedenen Gesellschaften definiert, sozial konstruiert und anerkannt wird.
Darüber hinaus werden wir ethnografische Studien lesen, die in Altenheimen in Deutschland durchgeführt wurden und sich mit dem Übergang in ein Altenheim als einer neuen Lebensphase beschäftigen. Die Ergebnisse dieser Studien werden mit Untersuchungen aus anderen Ländern verglichen.
Im Seminar wird sowohl englisch- als auch deutschsprachige Literatur verwendet.
