Kommentar:

Dass nach 1989 in der NS-Forschung verstärkt Fragen nach dem Verhältnis von Zentrale und Peripherie, Befehlsgebung von oben und Initiativen von unten, aber auch nach der Rolle der Institutionen, nach Intentionen und Interessen der Handelnden vor Ort in den Mittelpunkt gerückt seien, konstatiert Michael Wildt zu Recht. Vor diesem Hintergrund richtet sich das Hauptaugenmerk des Seminars auf Machtstrukturen, Institutionen und Kontexte, jedoch gleichermaßen geht es um eine Analyse der nationalsozialistischen Gesellschaft und der konkret Handelnden. Mit dieser Intention beschäftigt sich das Seminar beispielsweise mit Struktur, Organisationskultur und Entscheidungspraxis der NSDAP respektive der Parteikanzlei, der Relevanz einzelner Reichsministerien, aber ebenso differenziert mit dem Reichssicherheitshauptamt, der SS oder der Geheimen Staatspolizei.
