In der Lehrveranstaltung wird es darum gehen, einen Überblick über bedeutende Vertreter der Geschichtsschreibung im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert – angefangen von Jacob Burckhardt, Johann Gustav Droysen, Otto Hintze, Eckart Kehr über Karl Lamprecht, Franz Mehring, Friedrich Meinecke, Theodor Mommsen bis zu Hermann Oncken, Leopold von Ranke, Gerhard Ritter, Heinrich von Treitschke – zu erarbeiten. Hierbei sollen umfassende theoretische Konzepte der Geschichtswissenschaft und Paradigmenwechsel behandelt werden.
