Ziel des Seminars ist die Auseinandersetzung mit zentralen Vertretern von historischen als auch gegenwärtigen Bildungstheorien. Dadurch soll der Blick für Unterschiede als auch für Parallelen bzw. Ergänzungspotentiale der jeweiligen Bildungsbegriffe und ihren bildungspraktischen Implikationen geschärft werden. Im Rahmen der Besprechung der jeweiligen Konzeptionen von Bildung wird zudem Raum für den Vergleich mit der gegenwärtigen (deutschen) Bildungspraxis, z.B. in Schulen, gegeben. Das Seminar bietet damit die Möglichkeit, Schlüsselverständnisse von Bildung gemeinsam zu analysieren und zu bewerten. Das regelmäßige Lesen der Seminarlektüre ist hierfür eine Voraussetzung.
