Rund um das von der polnischen Regierung 2012 ausgeschriebene Korczak-Jahr sind in den letzten Jahren verstärkt Kinderbücher über den berühmten Arzt, Pädagogen und Waisenhausleiter publiziert worden. Am Beispiel ausgewählter Kinderbücher, respektive Bilderbücher, wird das Leben Korczaks vor dem Hintergrund des Holocausts im Spannungsfeld von Fiktion und Wahrheit nachgezeichnet. Dabei steht vor allem der Beitrag, den die Kinderbücher zur Erinnerungskultur beitragen können, im Fokus der Betrachtungen. Die Studierenden sollen dabei ihre analytisch erworbenen Kenntnisse aus der Literaturwissenschaft auf diese ausgewählten Werke der zeitgeschichtlichen Kinder- und Jugendliteratur übertragen und vertiefen.
