„What is it that some people can learn a foreign language quickly and expertly while others, given the same opportunities to learn, are utter failure?" (Gardner/Lambert 1972:1)
Anhand aktueller Forschungserkenntnisse wird im ersten Teil des Seminars das Erklärungspotential des Faktors Alter beim Erwerb einer Fremd-/Zweitsprache diskutiert werden. Im zweiten Teil des Seminars wird auf den Faktor Motivation eingegangen, der zunächst einer genaueren Analyse unterzogen wird, wobei verschiedene Motivationskonzepte berücksichtigt werden sollen. Unter Miteinbeziehung verschiedener Spracherwerbskonzepte wird die Forschung zu den Faktoren Alter und Motivation bewertet.
