300063 Sociology of Crises and Catastrophes (MA) (S) (SoSe 2016)

Contents, comment

Terror attacks in France, earthquakes in Nepal, the migration and refugee crisis - there seems no way to get around the topic of crises and catastrophes. The seminar provides first insights into interactional, organizational and societal troubles. We will look at how crises are communicated, how risk organizations (e.g. NASA) try to prevent catastrophic outcomes and what happens if these attempts fail, and much more.
Please note that this course will be held in English.
