Teaching culture is an integral part of teaching a language. However, teaching English-speaking cultures is no longer restricted to learning facts about the US and UK. Cultural learning can take place close to home - in everyday life locally as well as globally, accessible online. Digital media change cultural participation and can be used for exploring (sub-)cultures online and offline. In this course, we will examine how such a renewed understanding of teaching culture affects classroom practices and you will design your own task-based units of teaching culture beyond the (traditional) classroom.

The binding module descriptions contain further information, including specifications on the "types of assignments" students need to complete. In cases where a module description mentions more than one kind of assignment, the respective member of the teaching staff will decide which task(s) they assign the students.
