This course will survey major English poets of the Victorian Age (Tennyson, Browning, Arnold, Rossetti, Swinburne, Hopkins et al.) with a particular focus on their literary and cultural position between late Romanticism and early Modernism.
A Reader containing the course texts will be available in an obligatory introductory meeting for all participants in January.

Three credit points will be awarded for attendance (1), an oral presentation of one poem (1), and a written essay on that poem.
