230335 Speaking and Pronunciation (S) (WiSe 2014/2015)

Contents, comment

The goal of this course is to ensure that participants are able to express themselves appropriately, correctly and with assurance in conversations, classroom discussions and other situations of everyday personal and professional life. There will be intensive pronunciation practice with special attention to contrastive features - some of the ways in which English and German pronunciation differ. Students will also have a variety of opportunities to further develop their speaking ability so that they can participate in a range of interactive situations in idiomatic English that is both flexible and appropriate. Each member of the class will give a solo presentation on a topic of their choice, as well as taking part in an individual interview.

Requirements for participation, required level

Participants should have passed the departmental Entrance Test or one of the recognized equivalents.

Bibliography

Will be presented in class and online as required. Please pay special attention to the latest version of “Auntie Alligator’s List of Don’ts” on my teaching homepage and the StudIP section for this course.
