In dem Seminar werden zunächst grundlegende Begriffe sozio- und psycholinguistischer Forschungsbereiche zur Mehrsprachigkeit eingeführt. In einem fächerübergreifenden Ansatz sollen der Gegenstandsbereich und die wesentlichen Forschungsfragen zur Mehrsprachigkeit 1. beim kindlichen Spracherwerb, 2. während der schulischen Sozialisation und 3. im gesellschaftlichen Kontext vorgestellt werden. Das Ziel der Veranstaltung ist insbesondere, Studierende der Klinischen Linguistik auf den späteren Umgang mit mehrsprachigen Patienten vorzubereiten. Weiterhin sollen grundlegende Kenntnisse zur bilingualen Repräsentation von Sprache im Gehirn vermittelt werden. Ebenfalls einen großen Raum werden Untersuchungen einnehmen, die sich sprachtherapeutisch mit bilingualen Aphasiepatienten beschäftigt haben, um die Besonderheiten des bilingualen Gehirns anhand konkreter Patientendaten belegen zu können.
