Unter Modalität versteht man eine Bedeutungskategorie, die kodiert, wie ein Sprecher sich zur Gültigkeit einer Aussage positioniert (z.B. Peter ist wohl/ja/eben krank.) bzw. wie sich die Aussage zur Wirklichkeit verhält (z.B. Peter ist/sei/wäre krank. oder Peter kann/dürfte/muss krank sein.). Wir wollen uns in diesem Seminar die grammatischen und interpretatorischen Eigenschaften von Ausdrücken anschauen, die Modalität markieren. Behandelt werden u.a. Modalverben, Satzadverbien, Modalpartikeln, Konjunktionen und Verbmodus.
