Das Seminar widmet sich der ¿Empirie der Organisation¿ anhand der Lektüre ausgewählter klassischer und neuerer empirischer Fallstudien. Zentraler Gesichtspunkt der Auswahl der Studien ist, dass sie soziologisch einschlägige Aspekte der Struktur und Funktionsweise von Organisationen (z.B. Zielverschiebung, Regelabweichung, Informalität, Machtspiele usw.) in anschaulicher Weise beschreiben. (In diesem Sinne bleiben quantitative Analysen und experimentelle Organisationsforschungen hier außer Acht).
Die Bescheinigung der aktiven Teilnahme am Seminar setzt zwingend voraus, dass die Studien (z.T. in Auszügen) jeweils von allen TeilnehmerInnen gelesen werden. Vorgesehen ist, dass Kleingruppen jeweils kurze ergänzende Präsentationen vorbereiten und die Zuständigkeit für die Diskussion übernehmen (die Präsentationen dienen jeweils der inhaltlichen ¿Rahmung¿ und ersetzen nicht die Lektüre durch alle TeilnehmerInnen!).
