Kommentar: Der Kurs gliedert sich in drei Teile mit je 5 Kurstagen: Verhaltensökologie, chemische Ökologie und theoretische Ökologie.
In der Verhaltensökologie werden allgemeine Prinzipien der Verhaltensökologie von der Populationsebene hin zum Individuum gelehrt und praktisch getestet. Im Bereich der chemischen Ökologie wird die Rolle von Pheromonen und anderen Botenstoffen bei der Interaktion zwischen Individuen der gleichen Art und verschiedener Arten untersucht. Dazu werden Experimente mit Pflanzen- und Insektenarten durchgeführt. In der theoretischen Ökologie lernen wir einfache Modelle zur Ökologie von Populationen und ökologischen Gemeinschaften kennen und vergleichen sie mit Daten aus der Literatur und eigenen Freilanderhebungen.
