Das Seminar wird sich, anschließend an gegenwärtige Diskurse die "Ökologien" oder "das Ökologische" behandeln, der Frage widmen, wie diese Diskurse sich in die Epoche der Vormoderne übertragen lassen. "Ökologie" wird dabei als relationale Wechselbeziehung zwischen Organismen und ihrer Umwelt verstanden. Wie kann eine Umwelt der Bilder in der Vormoderne aussehen? Wie wird sie dargestellt? Wie macht sie sich in den Bildern bemerkbar, z.B. als Pigmente oder Ressourcen, die (global?) extrahiert werden müssen? Können Bilder selbst Umwelten ausbilden, und wie können diese aussehen?
