Die Teilnehmenden entwickeln in Kooperation mit einer (außer-)schulischen Institution Angebote für den Bereich der sozialwissenschaftlichen Bildung und reflektieren anschließend ihre Erfahrungen. Die konkreten Aufgaben im Praktikum unterscheiden sich dabei, je nachdem welche Projektpartner-Organisation vom der/dem Teilnehmer/in ausgewählt wird, weisen aber immer einen handlungsorientierten Zugang auf finden außerhalb des regulären Fachunterrichts statt. Die Veranstaltung ordnet sich daher in das Praxisstudienformat „außerschulische Praxis“ ein.
Im Bereich der außerschulischen sozialwissenschaftlichen/politischen Bildung konnten folgende Projektpartner gewonnen werden: Kommunales Integrationszentrum Bielefeld, Internationales Begegnungszentrum, Welthaus Bielefeld sowie der bundesweit agierende Verein Zweitzeugen (Antisemitismus/Rassismus Prävention). Die Praxisphase bei einer der o.g. Praktikumsinstitutionen wird in der Regel als Projekt- oder Blockpraktikum durchgeführt.
