In der Veranstaltung werden einflussreiche ästhetische Positionen, übergreifende Entwicklungen und Wendepunkte der Musikgeschichte des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts überblicksartig dargestellt. Kompositorische, aufführungspraktische und mediale Aspekte historischer und aktueller Musik von 1900 bis zur Gegenwart werden anhand von Aufnahmen und Partituren exemplarischer Werke unter Berücksichtigung individuell biographischer sowie gesellschaftlicher und technischer Einflüsse analysiert.
