Das Seminar setzt sich mit verschiedenen theoretischen Perspektiven auseinander, mit denen auf das Verhalten und die Funktionsweise von Sportorganisationen geschaut werden kann. Diese Theorien sind hauptsächlich in der Soziologie und im Sportmanagemnet verortet sowie in der Nonprofit-Forschung. Während es im anderen Seminar des Moduls um Konzepte geht, welche im Organisationskontext relevant sind, werden hier Theorien besprochen und erläutert. Eine theoretische Auseinandersetzung ist wichtig für die Erklärung und das Verständnis von Zusammenhängen. Darauf aufbauend kann die die Steuerung und Entwicklung von Sportorganisationen verbessert werden. Neben allgemeinen Theorien zum Organisationsverhalten werden auch Theorien zur Gruppendiversität und speziell der Geschlechterdiversität thematisiert.
