Das sportökonomische Projektseminar ist eine zwei-semestrige Veranstaltung. Teil 1 findet im Wintersemester, Teil 2 im Sommersemester statt.
Im ersten Teil des Projektseminars werden zunächst Grundlagen der Datenanalyse erarbeitet und ökonometrische Kenntnisse vermittelt. Anschließend werden aktuelle sportökonomische Themen präsentiert. Auf Basis dieser Literatur- und Statistikkenntnisse erarbeiten und präsentieren Studierendengruppen eigene Forschungsfragen und erheben hierfür eigene Daten.
Im zweiten Teil des Projektseminars (Sommersemester) werden praktische Kenntnisse der Datenaufbereitung und -analyse mit Hilfe einer Statistik-Software (STATA oder R) vermittelt. Die von den Gruppen erhobenen Daten werden ausgewertet und die Forschungsfrage empirisch untersucht. Die Ergebnisse werden abschließend im Seminar präsentiert. Zur Leistungserbringung zählt des Weiteren die Abgabe eines kurzen Forschungsberichts.
