Themes to be discussed:

In developmental psychology, what do we mean by risk and resilience? Looking at cases from Romanian orphanages, trauma from natural disasters or being born at risk (e.g low birthweight).

How do we conceptualize resilience as an outcome, a process, or a personality trait? Are you born resilient? Is it a skill that can be developed?

How do we empirically test for risk and resilience?

In looking at these themes we will read and discuss work from influential researchers such as Masten, Rutter, Duckworth, Pluess, and Belsky.

What is expected?
Regular active participation in the seminar
Discussion of empirical articles in English
Participation in small group exercises and Recording of a scientific video
