In a widely circulated article on the promises of General Artificial Intelligence, Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, suggested to think of it as a "country of geniuses in a datacenter" solving humanity’s problems. Taking this metaphor of a colony of disembodied scientists seriously, this seminar draws on social anthropological literature to explore the relationship between intelligence and bodies, language, society, and politics.
