No fue sólo por su consabida modestia (para algunos falsa, para otros verdadera) que Borges solía resaltar su condición de lector por sobre su condición de autor. Es su propia concepción de la literatura la que queda expresada en esa definición. La obra de Borges, espléndida en su inventiva, puede calibrarse a la vez en su manera de maniobrar al interior de la tradición literaria, la de las escrituras previas, y en su poder para estimular escrituras, escrituras nuevas. La propuesta para el seminario es elaborar un abordaje crítico de algunos de sus cuentos fundamentales, y de otros cuentos inspirados en los suyos.
