Das Bild der Moderne vom Mittelalter ist so vielfältig und widersprüchlich wie von keiner anderen Epoche. Als beliebter Gegenstand von historischen Romanen, Computerspielen und Reenactment-Festivals steht das Mittelalter für einen manchmal grausamen, bisweilen aber auch idealisierten Abschnitt der Menschheitsgeschichte.
Die Veranstaltung widmet sich der deutschen Literatur des frühen, hohen und späten Mittelalters und untersucht gleichzeitig die Bedingungen, unter denen Texte wie z.B. das ‚Nibelungenlied‘, die Artusromane Hartmanns von Aue und Wolframs von Eschenbach und Lieder wie die Walthers von der Vogelweide entstehen konnten.
Ziel ist es, eine Einführung in die Literatur des Mittelalters zu geben und die sprachlichen und kulturellen Unterschiede zu anderen Epochen aufzuzeigen.
