Risiko tauchte als politischer Begriff erstmals in den 1960er Jahren auf und entfaltete eine ansehnliche Karriere, die vermutlich in der weitverbreiteten Bezeichnung der "Weltrisikogesellschaft" einerseits, und der Anwendung von Risikoanalysen in so unterschiedlichen Politikfeldern wie Arbeitsschutz, Umwelt oder Hochschule anderseits, kulminierte.
In diesem Seminar werden die wichtigsten Stufen der Karriere des Risikobegriffs in der Politik anhand zentraler Texte rekonstruiert und in ihren soziologischen Konsequenzen analysiert.
