Das Seminar versteht sich als eine Einführung in die Soziologie der Mode. Mode ist ein vieldimensionales soziales Phänomen. So stiftet Mode symbolische Grenzen zwischen Gruppen und Gemeinschaften, sie konstitutiert personale, kulturelle und geschlechtliche Identitäten, und sie inkludiert Konsumentinnen und Konsumenten an globale Märkte. In dem Seminar werden wir uns mit klassischen Texten wie zeitgenössischen soziologischen Untersuchungen zur Mode befassen.
