"Menschliche Vernunft", schreibt J.G. Herder einmal, "können wir zwar in Gedanken und Worten zu einem gewißen Zweck von anderen Kräften unserer Natur sondern; nie aber müßen wir vergeßen, daß sie in ihr abgesondert von anderen Kräften nicht substire. Es ist dieselbe Seele, die denkt und will, die versteht und empfindet, die Vernunft übet und begehrt."
Es mag dies auch ein Grund sein, weshalb sie so schwer zu fassen, begrifflich zu bestimmen und von anderen dieser "Kräfte" der Seele mitunter schwer zu trennen ist.
In diesem Seminar soll eine Erkundung stattfinden, die bspw. den Fragen nachgehen soll, ob es allein die Vernunft ist, die uns befähigen kann, die Zusammenhänge der Realität objektiv zu erkennen oder ob nicht mit der Einschränkung allein auf die Vernunft als Quelle der Erkenntnis notwendig ein wesentlicher Teil der Wirklichkeit fehlen muss. Es muss weiterhin gefragt werden, wie sich etwa Sinnlichkeit und Rationalität eigentlich unterscheiden und wie sich Natur und Vernunft zueinander verhalten. Ist Vernunft etwa mit den gleichen Begriffen erklärbar, die wir auch zur Erklärung natürlicher Dinge nutzen? Können vernünftige Gründe, semantische Inhalte oder Bewusstsein als Teil der Natur verstanden werden (und naturalistisch erklärt werden)?

Eine aktive Teilnahme wird erwartet.
